Wow, I'm blown away. This is one of Spiritualized's best albums in my opinion and I didn't expect that. Pierce deserves all the praise he gets, he truly is a modern rock n roll legend. I haven't been keeping up with them in recent years but clearly should have. ZWT100

The title says it all: Amazing collection of sounds from the golden age af japanese ambient - which also happens to be the pinnacle of ambient, period! Only disappointment: This is only samples of the original full, two-disc record, but worthwhile none the less. polinos

Maybe the best thing David ever did, which makes me extremely sad. A Jews record in all but name, but more direct in its lyricism without losing that indescribable feeling, that beauty and sorrow and lighthearted sarcasm all rolled into one profound set of lyrics that are David Berman. Not to mention the band playing on the record is probably the best Berman ever recorded with. Rest in Peace DCB. jack_thorn16

Throughout this album, somehow, Sufjan makes me care about the state of Illinois. From detailed depictions of various landmarks and folklore, to moments of deep personal introspection; Illinois builds an incredibly dense narrative out of it's seemingly simple concept. The variety of sounds on this album is remarkable, compelling me to smile in one moment, then leaving me a sobbing mess in the next. One of the very few albums I'd consider to be 100% perfect.
